The SEANC Board of Governors passed a resolution by a unanimous vote at its February meeting to set the process of disaffiliating from the Service Employees International Union in motion.

The Assembly NC, a web-based news source, posted an in-depth article on the decision on Thursday (subscription required). SEANC President Martha Fowler also sent a message to all members explaining the board's position.

Even though the Board of Governors vote was unanimous, SEANC is, first and foremost, a member-led organization, and members will have the final say in this decision. The matter will be taken up at the 2023 SEANC Convention in September, where delegates will decide the fate of our affiliation with SEIU.
